Mrs. Syver Fosholdt Dies

Mrs. S.J. Fosholdt died Monday morning at 4 o'clock at her home in Floyd county, after a long sickness.

She leaves a husband and seven children to mourn her loss. Mrs. Fodholdt was of a quiet disposition, and always tried to lead a christian life. She has always been held in high esteem by her friends and neighbors.

The bereaved family have the sympathy of the community.

The funeral occurred Tuesday from the Norwegian Lutheran church, and the remains interred in the Rock Creek cemetery.

Johanna Haraldsdatter Grov was born April 19, 1847 at Hedalen, Valdres, Oppland, Norway to Harald Guttormsen Nordre Grov and Marit Christensdatter Stugaarden, the eighth of their nine children.

She emigrated to the United States in 1868, eventually settling at Mitchell County, Iowa.

Johanna married Syver Johnson Fosholdt on February 20, 1874 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

The couple had eight children: Marith, John Syversen, Harold Syversen, Ingeborg, Thorvald Syversen, Gabriel, Isabell (Ingeborg) and Lise (Elizabeth). All children used the surname Fosholdt.

Johanna died June 25, 1894 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Iowa.
