BORTZ SERVICES HELD AT HOME, METHODIST CHURCH IN RUDD
Rudd: Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock at the house and at two-thirty at the Methodist church in Rudd Thursday afternoon for Herman Bortz with the Rev. David Lang of the Evangelical church in Nora Springs officiating, assisted by the Rev. S. J. Baldwin of the Rudd Methodist church. Burial was in Rudd cemetery. Mr. Bortz died Monday.
Herman Frederick Bortz, son of Ernest and Mathilda Bortz, was born near Rudd April 26, 1885, and lived all of his life in this vicinity. He was married to Anna Vouquett at Nora Springs on December 11, 1912. Mr. Bortz was actually engaged in farming 2 1/2 miles miles north of Rudd until 1938, when he was suddenly taken very ill, from which sickness he never fully recovered.
He was agent for the Farmers Mutual Telephone company and assessor of Rudd township.
Immediate survivors are his widow; his daughter, Katherine, and several nieces and nephews.
