August U. Benson, 1856-1911
Born May 26, 1856 - Died April 10, 1911
Mr. August U. Benson was born in Sweden on May 23, 1856 and passed away at his home in Rock Island, Illinois after a short illness with pneumonia, on April 10, 1911.
Mr. Benson came to America when quite small and with his parents settled on a farm in Lincoln township. This was his home until about seven years ago when he sold his Mitchell county land and removed to the southern part of the state. Some two years ago he removed to Valparizo, Indiana, and quite recently he again came west and settled at Rock Island, Illinois.
While living at Orchard, Mr. Benson joined the Osage Masonic lodge and took all the degrees to Knight Templar. On his removal from the county, he took his demit from the Osage lodges. He is survived by his wife and two children, two sisters and one brother.
The remains were brought to Osage for interment and arrived here Friday morning. The funeral was held at the cemetery chapel Friday forenoon, the services being conducted by Rev. F. W. Court, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church of Osage.
