OSAGE, IOWA - Melvin "Butch" Wright, 59, died Sunday, January 24, 1999, at his home in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Osage, with the Rev. Arthur Hill officiating. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at Champion Funeral Home, Osage.
Melvin "Butch" Wright was born Aug. 29, 1939, in Osage, the son of Hollis and Harriet (Penney) Wright. He attended Osage schools and graduated from Osage High School in 1957.
Butch enjoyed participating in and watching sports, especially basketball, baseball, bowling and golf. He was a softball umpire for many years.
Butch was a member of the Methodist Church and AA.
He is survived by his sister, Muriel Crossley, Osage; a niece, Barbara Wright and her husband, Herb, Osage; five nephews, Douglas Olson and his wife, Linda, Waterloo, Richard Olson and his wife, Carol, Waterloo, Jeffrey Olson and his wife, Lory, Hutchinson, Minn., William Olson, Hutchinson, Minn., and James Olson, Arlington, Va.; four great nieces; and three great nephews.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents and aunts and uncles.
