William Carrison died Tuesday, June 30, at the home of his son, Clinton, in Burr Oak Township. He had been ill eleven days. Services were held at Champion funeral home Wednesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. John D. Kern of the Baptist church.

Mr. Carrison was born in England March 17, 1839, the fourth child of John and Elizabeth Carrison. When he was 17 years old, he and his parents followed his oldest brother James to this country, taking three months to cross the ocean. They suffered terrible hardships on the voyage. They went from New York to Stoughton, Wisconsin, where they settled.

Mr. Carrison married Sarah Tibbets. Four children were born; George, Alice, Lusetta, and Cora. Lusetta, whose home is in Kenyon, Minn., is the only child of this union living. Mrs. Carrison died in 1871.

On June 10, 1872 Mr. Carrison married Bertha Hendrickson. Five children were born to this union; William, Mabel, Clinton, Elton, and Percy, who is living in Estherville. William and Mabel died young. His wife Bertha died Aug. 28, 1900, and Elton died on June 15, 1926.

In 1899 he sold his property in Wisconsin and in the spring of 1900 he purchased and moved onto a farm near the Burr Oak church, Burr Oak Township. In 1902 he married Mary J. Peck and soon afterwards purchased a home in Osage. The last four years he had been living with his son Clinton.

Three children survive: Clinton of Osage, Percy of Estherville, and Mrs. W.R. Galley of Kenyon, Minnesota; also fifteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Carrison united with the Free Baptist church in Wisconsin. On removing to Mitchell County he joined the Burr Oak church. Later he joined the Osage Baptist church.

Few Days' illness

William Carrison passed away Tuesday morning at the home of his son, Clinton in Burr Oak Township, where he had been making his home for some time. He was ill only a few days.

Mr. Carrison was born in England, March 17, 1839, and was the fourth child of John and Elizabeth Carrison.

His life was a full one, and out of the ordinary in many ways. At the age of 9 years he was put out to work for his keep, and did so until 17 years of age. Then he and his paents followed his eldest brother, James, to this county. It took them three months to cross the ocaean, and during that long journey they enjured many hardships, but finally landed in New York City. From there they went to Stoughton, Wisconsin, where the family settled.

There he married Sarah Tibbets, and to this union were born four children: George, Alice, Lucetta and Cora. They have all preceded him in death with the exception of Lucetta, whose home is in Kenyon, Minnesota. His wife, Sarah, died in 1871.

On June 10, 1872, he married Bertha Henderickson, and to them five children were born: William, Mabel, Clinton, Elton and Percy. Two survive him, Clinton, in Burr Oak Township, and Percy, at Estherville. William and Mabel died when young in years. His wife, Bertha, died August 28, 1900, and Elton died June 15, 1926.

In the year 1899 he sold his property interests in Wisconsin, and in the spring of 1900 he purchased and moved onto a farm near the Burr Oak Church in Burr Oak Township.

In 1902 he married Mary J. Peck, and soon afterward he purchased a home in Osage, where he lived except for the eight years he spent east of Osage and the last four years, during which he has been at his son's home.

Those who are left to mourn their loss are his sons, Clinton, of Osage; Percy, of Estherville; a daughter, Mrs. W. R. Galley, of Kenyon, Minnesota. There are fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.

He united with the Free Will Baptist Church in Wisconsin, and on moving to Mitchell County he united with the Burr Oak Church. Later he became a member of the Baptist Church in Osage.

Funeral services were held at the Champion Funeral Home at 2 o'clock July 1, 1931 in the charge of Reverend John D. Kern, and burial was made in the Osage Cemetery.
