ST. ANSGAR--Hazel G. Brandau, 96, of St. Ansgar, formerly of Osage, Iowa died Saturday, March 9, 1996, at Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Eden Presbyterian Church, rural Rudd, with the Rev. John Bates officiating. Burial will be in Eden Presbyterian Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 7:30 p.m. today at Champion Funeral Home, Osage, and one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church.
Hazel G. Brandau was born May 24, 1899, on a farm in Floyd County, the daughter of Conrad and Sophie (Buckmann) Apel. She was educated in country schools and graduated in 1917 from Cedar Valley Seminary, Osage. Hazel married Otto Brandau on May 4, 1921, at her parents home in Nora Springs. They farmed near Rudd for 40 years, retiring and moving to Osage in 1960. Hazel was a lifelong member of Eden Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Bernice Sweeney, Longwood, Florida; a son-in-law, Al Toppin, Clear Lake; seven grandchildren, Dan Sweeney, Alexandria, Va., Peggy Forbes, Evanston, Ill., Tom Sweeney, Fern Park, Florida, Brad Toppin, Rudd, Tricia Mullen, Seekonk, Mass., Mark Toppin, Plymouth, and Joel Sweeney, Altamonte Springs, Florida; and 14 great-grandchildren.
