OSAGE, Sept. 1 — Funeral services for Leonard Beard Cutler whose body was brought here for burial were held at the Champion funeral home Saturday in charge of the Rev. Nelson C. Dreier of the Congregational church;

Mr. Cutler was born on January 14, 1853, at Frankville coming with his parents, James B. and Margaret Cutler, to Mitchell County.

In 1874 he was married to Miss Ella Wilson of Spring Grove near Osage. They followed farming until 1907 when they came to Osage where Mrs. Cutler died in 1925.

Mr. Cutler went to live in the home of his son, James at Greene, New York.

He is survived by his son, James; a daughter, Margaret Atherton of Glendale, Calif.; a brother, Dr. Charles W. Cutler, Park Rapids, Minnesota; a sister, Mrs. Mary Stephenson, Glendale, Calif., and five grandchildren.

Man Died in N. Y.

Leonard Cutler, one of the best known of the early settlers of this county, passed away at the home of his son, James, at Greene, N. Y., and the remains were brought to Osage last Saturday for burial beside his wife in the family lot.

Leonard Beard Cutler was born January 14, 1853, at Frankville, Iowa, and came with his parents, James B. and Margaret Cutler, to Mitchell County and settled at Watertown, a settlement southwest of Orchard, which is no longer in existence. From there they moved to a community where the post office, then called "Leota," was located, and was conducted in the Cutler home on a farm known as "the Cutler Farm" until sold to H. W. Lack in 1917.

Mr. Cutler was married to Miss Ella Wilson, of Spring Grove, near Osage in 1874, and they located on a farm then called the Allen farm, four and a half miles east of Osage. Here their four children were born: Herbert W., who died about sixteen years ago; Gertrude, who died at the age on one and a half years, leaving Margaret Atherton, of Glen Dale, California, and James I. Cutler, of Greene, N. Y., to mourn his passing.

In 1833 the family moved back to the old Cutler farm near Orchard where they resided until 1907 when they moved to the Cutler home on State Street in Osage.

The home was broken by the death of Mrs. Cutler in 1925 and the father went to live with his son, James, where he made his home until his passing.

Mr. Cutler was taken suddenly ill about six weeks ago and gradually grew weaker until his death on Wednesday evening, August 26, 1931.

Mr. Cutler was known to many people of this community as a devoted husband and father; one who was a very loyal and fine spirited neighbor.

Funeral services were held at the Champion Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Saturday, in charge of the Reverend Nelson C. Dreier, and burial was made in the Osage Cemetery.

The surviving members of the immediate family are Dr. Charles W. Cutler, Park Rapids, Minnesota, and Mrs. Mary E. Stephenson, Glendale, California, a brother and sister. Also five grandchildren, Margaret Cutler-Jacob, Detroit, Michigan, Leonard W., of Park Rapids, Minnesota, Dean, Dale and Barbara, of Greene, N. Y.
