Her marriage to William G. Bortz took place November 11, 1907. They established their home on a farm two and one-half miles north of Rudd, living there until the death of Mr. Bortz on May 12, 1940. The following September she moved to Osage to make her home with her sisters, Anna and Amelia Muller.

Surviving are her three children, Mrs. Matilda Schmidt and Alvin Bortz of Rudd and Mrs. Chester Brandau of Nora Springs, 10 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and her two sisters, Anna and Amelia Muller of Osage.

Preceding Mrs. Bortz in death was her husband, William, her parents, one brother, Otto, three sisters, Mrs. Adolpha Kollman, Mrs. Lena Hartwig, and Mrs. Bertha Witzel.
