FUNERAL HELD FOR BRODIE MITCHELL, 76

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Champion Funeral home in Osage for Brodie Mitchell, 76, who died at Mitchell County Memorial hospital last Thursday. He had been in ill health for several months, and had undergone major surgery twice.

The Rev. Wesley A. Anderson, pastor of the Baptist church, was in charge of the services and burial was in the Osage cemetery.

Brodie Barlow Mitchell was born Dec. 31, 1889, at Porterville, Illinois, the son of George and Lametta Ickermeier Mitchell. Following the death of his mother, he lived with the William Davis family, who also had a son, Alva. Mr. Mitchell later came to Iowa.

He was inducted into the army and served one year in France in World War I.

His marriage to Bertha Carrison took place Feb. 20, 1924, at the home of the bride's parents in Burr Oak township. They spent most of their married life in Iowa. He was baptized in the Pentecost faith in Illinois and was later united with the Baptist church in Osage.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Bertha of Osage; three sons, Clinton of Osage, Charles of Kensett, Lester of Fort Worth, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. Clayton Werner, Florence, of Osage, Mrs. William Ehlke, Dorothy, of St. Ansgar, and Mrs. Arthur Berge, Mary of Osage. He also leaves 23 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Lou Wright of Casey, Illinois; three brothers, John of Fountana, Calif.; Everett of Monroe, Michigan; and Grover of Decatur, Illinois, and Art of Dundee, Illinois, and a half brother, Loren of Definance, Ohio.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one son Lloyd, one sister one brother and one grand-daughter.
