Funeral services for C.G. Gunderson, 80, a lifelong resident of the St. Ansgar community, who died in Omaha, Nebraska, Saturday, January 26, 1957, were held Tuesday, January 29, 1957 at the First Lutheran Church here with the Rev. Luther H. Berven officiating.
Carl Gustav Gunderson was born April 24, 1876 in St. Ansgar, the son of Erick and Louise Helgeson Gunderson. He was baptized and confirmed in the First Lutheran Church here by the Rev. Johan Olsen, and was a lifelong member of the church. As a young man he attended the rural schools and also Nora Springs Seminary and Walders Business College in Decorah.
He was married in 1906 to Inga Westend. To this union two children were born, Harold of Osage and Marie (Mrs. Harold Goodrich) of Omaha, Nebraska. He lived on the old Gunderson farm until 1914 when he and his family moved to St. Ansgar.
Mr. Gunderson was bookkeeper at the St. Ansgar Lumber company for several years before buying a harness and shoe store which he operated for about 20 years.
Following the death of his wife in 1952, he sold his home in St. Ansgar and moved to Osage to spend his remaining days at the home of his son and at his daughter's home in Omaha. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, five sisters and two brothers.
Mr. Gunderson is survived by his two children, five grandchildren and one great grandchild; also two sisters, Mrs. Louis Haberkorn and Mrs. Josephine Schmidt, both of Osage; and a brothers, Emil of Ray, North Dakota.
Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Berven in charge of the committal services.

He was baptized on June 10, 1876 at the First Lutheran Church at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa and confirmed at the same church on October 5, 1890.
He married Inga Amelia Westend on November 1, 1906 at Austin, Mower, Minnesota.
The couple had 2 children: Erik Harold (1907-1984) and Marie Louise (1908-2012).
