OSAGE, IOWA - Edward Erdmann, 77, died Saturday of pneumonia at his home. He came to Mitchell county 18 years ago from Owatonna, Minn. He bought the Mitchell county oil station and operated it since with the help of his sons and son-in-law, Andrew Anhorn.

He leaves his widow, eight children: Arthur, Leonard, Lawrence, Mrs. A. Anhorn, Marion, Edna and Ruby, at home; Mrs. Mabel Radel, Owatonna, Minn.; Tec. Third Gr. Harold Erdmann, in Germany; three grandsons in foreign service, Lyle Anhorn, just released from a German prison; Sgt. Reuben Anhorn and Cpl. Gilbert Erdmann.

EDWARD ERDMANN,
OSAGE OIL DEALER,
DIES AT AGE OF 74

Funeral services for Edward L. Erdmann, 74, were held Tuesday afternoon at the residence and at the Osage Lutheran Church. Last rites with the Mitchell County oil dealer were conducted by the Rev. T. P. Solem.

Mr. Erdmann, who had been in failing health for a number of years, died at his home here early Saturday morning, May 26, 1945.

Edward Ludwig Erdmann, was born in Havana Township, Steele County, Minnesota, June 24, 1870. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Owatonna Minnesota, and there he grew to manhood.

On October 3, 1891, he was United in marriage to Andrena Anderson, of Havana Township.

The farmed the greater part of his life, and along with his farming, he also served the Deerfield Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company as secretary for 25 years.

Eighteen years ago, the family moved to Osage, where Mr. Erdmann purchased the Mitchell County Oil Company, along with his son, Leonard, and his son-in-law Andrew Anhorn, which business has been upgraded successfully with the assistance of Mr. Erdmann's other three sons, Arthur, Lawrence and Harold. He was active in the business, until 10 years ago, when failing health compelled him to give it up. He suffered greatly at times, and bore his pain bravely, with much patience and courage.

He is survived by his wife and nine children; Mrs. Mabel Radel of Medford, Minnesota, Arthur, Leonard, Mrs. Andrew Anhorn, Lawrence, Marion, Edna, Ruby, all of Osage, and S.Sgt. Harold W. Erdmann, serving in the U. S. Army Ordnance in Germany; 12 grandchildren, three of whom are in the army; Cpl. Gilbert Erdmann in Germany, Sgt. Reuben Anhorn, also in Germany, and Pfc. Lyle Anhorn, just released from a prison camp; and two great-grandchildren; also two sisters, Mrs. Anton Belina, and Mrs. J. L. Huebl, of Aberdeen, South Dakota, three brothers; John of Valley City, Andrew of Owatonna, and Charles of West Concord, together with a host of other relatives and friends.
