Funeral services for Alf O. Fossey, 70, who died at the Osage Nursing Home in Osage Wednesday, November 27, 1963, were held Saturday, November 30, 1963, at the First Lutheran church here with the Rev. Don Comnick officiating.
Alf Oswald Fossey was born in Otranto township, Mitchell county August 24, 1893, the son of the late Anton and Oliva (Christensen) Fossey. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Mona. He entered the service of his country in World War I in September, 1917.
On June 4, 1924 he was united in marriage to Amanda Nelson at Adams, Minnesota. Mr. Fossey had been engaged in farming most of his life until his illness in October, 1948.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda, three sons, Darwin and Wayne of St. Ansgar and Merlin of Austin. Also five grandchildren; five brothers, Otto of St. Ansgar, Charles of Austin, and Eddie, Mense and George of Lyle; two sisters, Mrs. Gilbert (Hannah) Martin of Austin and Mrs. Clara Thompson of Long Beach, California.
Mr. Fossey was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mrs. Melvin (Eva) Martin.
Burial was in First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Comnick in charge of the committal service.
Members of the Walter T. Enneberg Post No. 358 of the American Legion honor and firing squad presented military rites.[ St. Ansgar Enterprise ]
