Alfred Lambert, 1865-1932
Alfred Lambert was born on a farm near Bailey, Iowa, June 28, 1865, and passed away suddenly at his home in Waterloo on his sixty-seventh birthday, June 28, 1932.
Mr. Lambert grew to manhood on his father's farm, two miles north of McIntire. On April 6th, 1887, he was united in marriage to Mattie Kingsbury, of LeRoy, Minnesota. At this time he purchased a farm across the road from the elder Lambert homestead, which he operated with the aid of his faithful wife for 26 years. He retired at this time and moved to LeRoy, where he resided for many years.
They then moved to McIntire, where they resided until the death of the wife, October 17, 1925. He then made his home with his son, Leon, until his second marriage to Mrs. Groby of Spring Valley, Minnesota, on June 5, 1929. They moved to Waterloo and have resided there since.
In 1888 Mr. Lambert united with the Wayne Baptist church and all through his life has been a firm Christian and a faithful worker in the church. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; two daughters, Mrs. M.J. Murphy, LeRoy, Minnesota; and Mrs. H.J. Rowe, Minot, North Dakota; one son, L.K. Lambert, McIntire, Iowa; two sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; two step-daughters, Mrs. Terla Kenne, Spring Valley, and Mrs. Leona Weed, Waterloo; one step-son, Eugene Groby, Rochester, Minnesota, and nine grandchildren.
