OBITUARY: Bernt 'Benny' Johnson, 1875-1848,

Funeral services for Ben Johnson, 72, were held Monday afternoon, February 23, 1948 at the Champion Funeral Home and at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church with the Rev. S.O. Sorlien in charge. Burial was made in the Rock Creek cemetery.

Mr. Johnson, a pioneer Mitchell County resident, passed away Saturday, February 21, 1948 of a cerebral hemorrhage at the Mercy Hospital in Mason City, where he had been a patient the past month. He had been in failing health the past year.

Bernt Johnson was born September 24, 1875 in Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. He was the son of Gulbrand and Karen Hansdatter Johnson. He lived all his life in this community with the exception of two years spent in Wisconsin.

Surviving are two nieces, Mrs. Adolph (Gustie) Amundson and Mrs. Christina Hubbard, both of Osage. Two brothers, John and Andrew Johnson, and a half-sister, Julia Erickson, preceded him in death.
