Olivia Evenson was born July 19, 1896 in Floyd County, Iowa, the sixth child of Martin and Oline Evenson.

When Olivia was two years of age her parents moved from their farm north of Rudd to Osage, Iowa, where she spent her childhood and received her education. She was an earnest student in school and always fond of books. She graduated from the Osage high school in 1914 and thereafter taught in the rural schools of the county two years.

On May 9, 1917, she was united in marriage to Martin O. Ellingson. They established their first home on a farm four miles south of St. Ansgar, but in March 1923 moved to St. Ansgar where they lived at the time of her death. Their home was blessed with three children, Morris aged eight years, Kathryn aged five years, and Merle aged two years.

On January 10, 1927, she gave birth to a stillborn child and soon thereafter complications developed, which caused the young mother's death on February 7th, at the age of 30 years, six months and eighteen days.

Mrs. Ellingson was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the First Lutheran Church of St. Ansgar. As a Christian wife and mother she strived to do her best for her home and children and was active in church and Sunday school work, being very interested in the teaching of her class.

Besides the bereaved husband and three children, she is survived by four sisters and one brother, her parents and one sister having preceded her in death. Two sisters, Mrs. Eline Halvorson and Miss Julie Evenson, and the one brother, Even Evenson, reside at Osage, and Mrs. Sedsel Halverson and Mrs. Alma Sponheim south of St. Ansgar.

Funeral services were conducted on February 10th by her pastor, the Rev. M.E. Waldeland, at the home and at the N.E. Lutheran church, and interment made in the Evergreen cemetery north of St. Ansgar.

Present at the funeral from away were; Howard Johnson of Austin, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jeffries of Osage; Mrs. Walter Wetter and Oscar Johnson of Orchard; Jon Peterson of Mason City; M.J. Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. S.J. Peterson and Stella of Rudd.

Serene, I fold my hands and wait,
Nor care for wind or tide, or sea,
I ask no more of time or fate
But that the Lord may care for thee.
Asleep, awake, by night or day
The Lord I seek is seeking thee,
No wind can drive His love away,
Nor change the tide of destiny.
What matter if you stand alone
Replace with hope the coming fears,
The Lord shall keep you for His own,
Banish all your doubts and fears.

Card of Thanks

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the many kind friends for their assistance and sympathy during the long sickness and after the death of our beloved wife and mother. And especially for the beautiful flowers, and to those who sang at the funeral.
