ROCK FALLS, IOWA -- Bernice M. Edgar, 84, Rock Falls, died Thursday, March 7, 2002, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Memorial services were at Old Stone Church, Rock Falls.

Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Edgar was born on April 16, 1917, in rural Mitchell County, the daughter of Richard and Amanda Bauer Kirchgatter. She married Russell Edgar on Sept. 9, 1945, in St. Ansgar. He preceded her in death in 1986.

She was a homemaker. Her family was her life and children were her legacy.

She was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist.

She enjoyed bird-watching, feeding birds and gardening.

Survivors include her children, Gordon Edgar and his wife, Sheila, of Muscatine, Bill Edgar and his wife, Karen, of Colfax, Dennis Edgar and his wife, Ellen, of West Union and Pam Weitzel and her husband, Mark, of Bettendorf; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Earl Kirchgatter and his wife, Louise, of St. Ansgar.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Ellery and Karl; and a sister, Freida Lillibridge.
