Funeral services for Miss Caroline Erickson were held at the First Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 3, 1960 with the Rev. D.J. Borge of Decorah in charge and burial was in the First Lutheran Cemetery.
Caroline Erickson was born January 28, 1875. Her parents, Andrew and Kjersti Erickson were among the pioneers who followed the Clausen Colony, coming here in 1856. They settled in what later was organized into Newburg township. In the farm home which they established here Caroline was born and grew to womanhood.
She was baptized and confirmed in the First Lutheran Church by the Rev. Johan Olson and remained a member of this chruch throughout her life. She took an active part in the different organizations of the church holding membership in the Dorcas Society and the Cemetery Society as long as they existed, and after the death of her mother, she took her place as a worker in the Ladies Aid.
In 1903 Caroline with other members of the family moved from their farm into their new home in St. Ansgar. Here she and her sister, Elevine resided for a period of 55 years until failing health made it necessary for them to give up housekeeping. They then sold their home and became residents of the Aase Haugen Home near Decorah, Iowa.
On November 30 she died at this home at the age of 85 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters except Elevine with whom she lived.
