Last rites were held for Lars Dybsjord, age 79, Sunday afternoon, August 4th at the First Lutheran church, with the Rev. Tolo of Northwood in charge of the services.
Death came unexpectedly to Mr. Dybsjord at his home in the southwest part of town as a result of a heart attack suffered Thursday evening at 5 o'clock when he was about the yard.
Lars Dybsjord was born June 5th, 1861, at Hallingdahl, Norway, and was the son of Guri and Daniel Donaldson. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on June 11, 1876 at Hallingdahl, Norway.
In 1885 he came to America and settled in Mitchell county. On February 4th, 1893, he was united in marriage with Carrie Uppedahl at Rock Creek, the Rev. Olson performing the ceremony.
To this union three children were born, of which one son preceded him in death at infancy.
In 1899 Mr. and Mrs. Dybsjord returned to Norway for a visit with relatives there, and returned after a few months. Upon their return they purchased a farm two and one-half miles west of St. Ansgar. In 1920 they retired from farming and moved to St. Ansgar where they have made their home ever since.
He is survived by his widow and one son, Oscar Dybsjord of Waterloo, Iowa, and one daughter, Mrs. W.M. Reierson of Boone, Iowa and four grandchildren, Antoinette, Mary Lou and Richard Dybsjord, and Walford Jr. Reierson.
Mr. Dybsjord's death came as a shock not only to his family, but to the entire community, for he had always been in good health and was apparantly so at the time of his death. He was a kind husband and a loving father, and had a host of friends throughout the community. His quiet, retiring nature won for him the affection and respect of all those who had contact with him.
Interment was in the Evergreen cemetery in the family lot.
