Funeral services for Herman C. Dierks, 67, who died at his farm home near Carpenter Tuesday, January 27, were held Saturday, January 31 at the Deer Creek Lutheran church with the Rev. Henry Erickson officiating.
Mr. Dierks, a retired farmer, was born in Dodge, Nebraska December 21, 1891. He and his family moved to the Carpenter community in 1940. He had been in failing health for several years and had spent part of the winter at the Veterans hospital in Minneapolis for treatment.
A military funeral was conducted with George Davis and Lynn Gordon in charge of the honor flags. The honor guard from the Carpenter Legion post was made up of Harvey Horsfall, Bill Gerlach, Raymond Konrad and Olaf Pederson.
Interment was at the First Lutheran cemetery in St. Ansgar with Rev. Erickson in charge of the committal services.
