The Rev. Theodore J. Eickelberg, 85, of Center Point, died Thursday in West Village Care
Center, Independence, after a long illness. Services: 9 a.m. Monday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home and after 8 a.m. Monday at the chapel.
Survivors include a son, Fredrick of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three daughters, Lois Francis of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Mary Ausen of Alexandria, Minn., and Barbara Bowdish of Marion; and three sisters, Dora Mattihas and Ella Hesse, both of Denver, Iowa, and Matilda Vogel of Waverly. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, a great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ted was born February 16, 1907, in Dunkerton and married Edith H. Kuhlmann on August 7, 1935, in St. Louis. She died in 1991.
He was a Lutheran minister and served several churches in Eastern Iowa for more than 50
years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Center Point and a
charter member of the Lowden Lions Club.The Rev. Daniel Johnson will officiate. Memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.

Rev. Theo. Eickelberg was installed April 7, 1946 and served Immanuel for three years. The congregation observed it's 75th Anniversary in 1949 and he assumed the responsibility for writing the Diamond Jubilee Book for this observance.
It will be recalled that a recognition service for homecoming men and women of World War II was arranged by him; A Fellowship Club for husbands and wives was organized; and individual communion cups were initiated. He accepted a call to Lowden, Iowa in November 1949.

Item #3The following is from the Immanuel's Lutheran Church (St. Ansgar, Iowa) booklet "Diamond Jubilee 1874-1949"
Reverend Theo. J. Eickelberg was called in March of 1949 and was installed in his office on April 7 by the vacancy pastor, the Reverend E. H. Yohr of Osage, Iowa. His ministry here now extends over a period of three and one half years, and by the grace of God Immanuel's Congregation continues it's healthy growth and activity.
