Funeral services for Mrs. Noris (Lela) Culbertson, 68, who died September 19 at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital in Osage, were held September 21, 1968 at Deer Creek Lutheran church, Carpenter, with the Rev. Robert Lehmann officiating.
Lela Vava Adams was born on April 27, 1900 in Jamaica, Iowa. She was graduated from high school at Perry. In 1919 she moved to this vacinity with her parents, and December 8, 1923, she was united in marriage to Noris L. Culbertson. Four children were born to this union; Jack of Carpenter; Ernest Dean of St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. Frances Walser, Northwood, and Mrs. Charles (June) Low, St. Ansgar.
Mrs. Culbertson was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church by the Rev. Waldeland, St. Ansgar. She was active in church and community affairs, including the American Legion Auxiliary and Garden club.
She spent three years caring for the elderly at the Lutheran Retirment Home, Northwood, until she became ill.
Mrs. Culbertson was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Adams; a brother and a sister who died in infancy.
She is survived by her husband and two sons and two daughters; five grandchildren; a brother, Charles Adams, Austin; two sisters, Leonna, Austin, and Wadena Adams of Salem, Ore.
Burial was in First Lutheran cemetery, St. Ansgar, with Rev. Lehmann in charge of the committal services.
