Held December 24Funeral services for Andrew T. Wold, 93, former St. Ansgar businessman, who died December 21, 1968 at the hospital in Emmetsburg, were held December 24 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rolfe, with the Revered G. H. Brase officiating.
Andrew T. Wold, oldest son of Tom and Liva Wold, was born on a farm near St. Olaf in Clayton County May 28, 1875. He was educated in the country schools near his home and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At the age of 17 he operated his own threshing machine. In the year 1900 he moved to Velva, N. Dakota where he owned and operated an implement and hardware store.
On July 9, 1901 he married Margaret Halverson of St. Olaf. Two sons, Waldo and Arnold, were born to this union. He returned to Iowa in 1920 where he operated a hardware store. In 1932 he sold out and became a salesman for the Oleson Mfg co. of Albert Lea, Minnesota. In 1942 he came to Rolfe to manage his son Arnold’s hardware store while Arnold was in the service. He continued to help at the store and live at Rolfe after his son’s return in 1945. In May of 1951 his wife, Margaret died after which he made his home with his son Arnold and wife.
Because of a serious illness in February 1968 he became a resident of Sunset Hill Manor, a nursing home in Rolfe.
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his son, Waldo; two brothers, Harry & Ferd; two sisters, Olive Livdahl and Molly Oleson; and by his parents.
