Claude Culbertson was born May 29, 1902, near Carpenter, Iowa to Charles and Rusina Strand Culbertson. He graduated from Carpenter High School in 1921. Married Helen Hultman of Little Cedar on August 15, 1945 at Vancouver, Canada.

Claude was a veteran of World War II, serving at Camp Crowder as a Private 1st Class of the 89th Division Artillery, Western Division, Colorago Springs, CO. from June 24, 1942 to March 23, 1943.

Living many years at Little Cedar his pleasures were ball sports, hunting, fishing and raising Brittany dogs. Death came at 84, as a retired home painter and decorator, on December 4, 1986, at the Stacyville Nursing Home. Military rites by the Stacyville American Legion under the direction of the Champion Funeral Home of Osage. Rev. Bill Jenkins of the Little Cedar Methodist Church officiated followed by burial at the First Lutheran Cemetery in St. Ansgar.

Casket bearers were Russell McPhail, Norman McPhail, Dean Thompson, Gordon Bates, Wayne Mills, Don Hanson. Surviving Claude were wife Helen and sister Ruth McGreevey of Mankato, MN.

Preceding his in death were his parents, brothers, Oral, Russell and Nuel Culbertson, and sisters Ina Priem and Enid Thompson.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 6, 1986 for Claude Culbertson, 84, a retired painter and decorator in the Little Cedar area, at Champion Funeral Home in Osage. Rev. J. B. jenkins of Little Cedar Methodist Church officiated, and burial was in the First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar.

Graveside military rites were conducted by Stacyville American legion Post 569. Mr. Culbertson died Thursday, December 4, 1986 at the Stacyville nursing home.

He was born May 29, 1902 near Carpenter, Iowa, to Charles and Rusina (Strand) Culbertson. He graduated from Carpenter High School in 1921 and married Helen Hultman on August 15, 1945 at Vancouver, Oregon. Mr. Culbertson retired in 1964.

He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Stacyille American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Little Cedar; and one sister, Mrs. Ruth McGreevey of Mankato, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
