Vivian Louise (Adams) Orman

Mason City - Vivian Louise Orman, 92, Mason City, died Sunday, December 13, 2009, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. A funeral service for Vivian will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church Wayside Chapel, 119 South Georgia, Mason City, with Reverend Jim Stiles officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Hwy 122 West, Mason City. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126-3rd Street NE, Mason City. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service time on Thursday at the church.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in her memory.

Vivian Louise Orman was born on February 1, 1917, in Webster City, the daughter of Charles and Sadie (Pfliger) Adams. She received her education in the Mitchell, Iowa Community Schools. Vivian was united in marriage to Gerald Orman on November 14, 1937, in St. Ansgar. Gerald preceded her in death on January 15, 1990. After their marriage Vivian and Gerald farmed for several years in Mitchell County before moving to Mason City. During her life, Vivian worked for the National Tea and Clifton's Grocery Stores in Mason City, and also worked for Arlans Department Store in Mason City until her retirement.

Vivian enjoyed bowling, camping, crocheting, and knitting, but her great love and enjoyment was her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mason City.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children,Virgil (Barb) Orman of Mason City, and Merlin (Mary) Orman of Galena, MO; seven grandchildren, Deb (Ken) Jorgensen of Mason City, Lori (John) Phelps of Little Rock, Arkansas, Steve (Leslie) Orman of Fairgrove, MO, Chris (Jennifer) Orman of Mason City, David (Lynda) Orman of Ames, Stacey (Scott Rye) Orman of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Andrea Orman of Minneapolis, Minnesota; eight great-grandchildren, Josselyn and Hayse Jorgensen, Annabel Phelps, and McGuire, Avery, Gage, Alex and Craig Orman; two brothers, Charles (Sonja) Adams of Arizona City, Arizona, and Richard Adams of Waterloo; two sisters, Genevieve (LeRoy) Walters of Osage, and Mildred Valasek of Osage; as well as other extended family members and friends.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gerald, a brother, Bill Adams, two sisters, Geraldine Johnson and Betty Brookings, and a daughter-in-law, Mary Orman.
