Funeral Held May 31

Funeral services for Melvin P. Duenow, 79, of St. Ansgar, who died Saturday, May 27, 2000 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, were held Wednesday, May 31, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rock Township, Mitchell County, with the Reverend Rose Marie Nack officiating.

Melvin P. Duenow was born on October 18, 1920 in Osage, to Paul and Freida (Apel) Duenow. Melvin enjoyed going to sale barns, attending small town activities, and going to town to eat. Melvin loved farming.

Melvin is survived by two daughters, Luella Duenow of Mason City; and Marcella Kestner of Damascus, Virginia; three grandchildren, Bruce Kestner, Samuel Kestner III, and Naomi Kestner; a niece Nancy Ellefson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Eldon and a sister Lucille Koci.

Burial was in the St. John’s Cemetery.
