OSAGE, IOWA - Jane D. Kotz, 78, of Osage died Thursday (Nov. 19, 2009) in the Hospice Unit at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Pastor Dennis Hanson of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage officiating. Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family would like to invite everyone to the Holiday Inn, 2101 Fourth St. S.W., for a time of lunch and fellowship following the memorial service. Memorials may be directed to the Jane D. Kotz Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Jane was born June 5, 1931, in Castalia, the daughter of Claude and Ruth (Schroeder) Weaver. She was married to Stanley Kotz on Jan. 30, 1949. They farmed together near Rock Falls. They also owned and operated Stan's Drive-In in Osage for nearly 25 years.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City and a past member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage.

She enjoyed listening to country music, going for rides to look for deer, reading and friends and family.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Debbie (Jim) Brakel of Sun City, Ariz., Sheryl (Ed) Nikolas of Virginia Beach, Va., and Dana (David) Thompson of Osage; grandchildren, Jason (Kelly) Nikolas of Virginia Beach, Va., Jamie (Robert) Barclay of Avondale, Ariz., Monica (Jeff) Dodd of Virginia Beach, Va., Jill Thompson and Jenna Thompson, both of Osage; five great-grandchildren, Michael, Brooke, Jenna, Adam and Ryan Olivia-Jane; many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley Kotz; grandson, Joseph Brakel; sister, Marlus (Jean) Kramer; and brother, Leland (Dick) Weaver.
