Funeral services for Hans T. Borsheim, 82, who died at his home in St. Ansgar Monday, October 7, 1963 were held Thursday, October 10 at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. Don Comnick officiating.
Hans T. Borsheim was born of Norwegian parentage March 18, 1881 on the family farm four miles south of St. Ansgar. He was the youngest child of Torkel and Brita Borsheim. He was baptized in infancy and confirmed by the Rev. John Olson. He attended the local schools and was valedictorian of the local high school class of 1900. He then was graduated with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State College in Ames in 1904.
August 31, 1908 he married Gena Hanson of St. Ansgar. Four children were born to them; Taylor, Raymond, Harold and Imogene. Taylor, the eldest, died at the age of seven. The Agricultural Industry owes much to Mr. Borsheim who was a pioneer in the design and development of farm tractors and equipment. His work in this field spanned almost a half century. His initial contributions were to the Hart Parr Tractor Co., however, the major years of his life were spent with the John Deere Tractor works.
At the age of 70 he retired from his engineering career and returned to St. Ansgar where he purchased and operated the St. Ansgar Plumbing & Heating Co. His knowledge and ability was often sought in community and church improvements. His wife, Gena died December of 1957. He married Etta Hylden, widow of his cousin, Ole Hylden at LaCrosse, Wis. August 12, 1959.
Mr. Borsheim is survived by his wife, Etta, his children; Raymond and Harold Borsheim and Imogene Moore, and eight grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of First Lutheran church.
Interment was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Comnick in charge of the committal services.
