Bennie Berger Bakkum, son of Gilbert and Julia Bakkum, died at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital January 1, 1953 at the age of 49 years. Funeral services were held at the Champion Funeral home in Osage at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, with interment in the First Lutheran cemetery.

He immigrated to the United States from Norway in 1905. He was united in marriage with Lillian Nicholson of Little Cedar in 1939. He is survived by his wife; three children, Hazel, Alvin and David; his mother; two brothers, John and Clarence of Mitchell; two sisters, Mrs. Nels Boa and Mrs. Edwin Griga of Osage; five nieces; and one nephew.
