C. T. Tollefson Burial Monday
____________________________________________Cerebral Hemorrhage Was Cause of Death after Illness of Months
____________________________________________Rites for C. T. Tollefson, 63, who died at Independence last Friday after an illness of several months, were conducted at the home of his brother, M. George Tollefson, and at the First Lutheran church Monday. Burial was made in the family lot at the church cemetery.
Mr. Tollefson had been in ill health since the death of his wife, March 5, 1933, and his condition grew steadily worse and he was taken to Independence about two months ago. Death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage.
Carl Thomas Tollefson, son of A. T. and Lien Tollefson, was born December 31, 1871, on a farm northeast of St. Ansgar. He was baptized by Rev. Clausen and in 1887 was confirmed by Rev. J. Olsen. He attended Clyde school and St. Ansgar seminary.
He was married to Clara Olivia Lane October 8, 1895, and to this union five children were born. They are Helga Mae Larson of Independence, Thelma Lurley of Idaho, Clarice Volberg Chase and June Alice of Michigan. Carl Thomas died in infancy.
A brother, M. Geo. Tollefson, and a sister, Mrs. George Halvorson, and three grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Tollefson spent his entire life in and around St. Ansgar. He served as postmaster for about three years and was connected with the hardware business for several years. He served as mayor and was town clerk until April, 1933.
