Bertha Amalia Assorsen, daughter of Knut and Christine Assorsen, was born near St. Ansgar, Iowa, August 12, 1890. She was baptized by Rev. J. Olsen at the St. Ansgar church and confirmed in the same church by Rev. M.E. Waldeland. She received her education at the public school near her home and at the St. Ansgar Seminary, graduating from both the Commercial and Normal courses of the institution.

She was taken sick with inflammatory rheumatism in August, 1909. Since this time she has been sick continually. The rheumatism affected the heart and the immediate cause of death was heart failure.

She died happy confessing faith in Jesus as her savior, June 6, 1910 reaching the age of 19 years, 9 months and 24 days.
