Ina Priem Koch Rites Held Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Ina Priem Koch, 56, of Carpenter, who died Saturday, July 20 (1957) at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester following a lingering illness, were held Monday, July 22 at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church. A prayer service preceded the regular services at 2 P.M. with the Reverend Don. R. Hamilton, pastor of the First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar officiating.

Ina Priem Koch was born May 15, 1901 on a farm near Carpenter, the daughter of Charles and Rusina Culbertson. She attended grade and high school at Carpenter. She later graduated from the Hamilton School of Business in Mason City and subsequently worked there.

On June 10, 1901 she was baptized at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church by the Reverend Johan Olsen and later was confirmed by the Reverend M. D. Waldeland. A lifelong member of her church, she participated in the activities of the Ladies’ Aid, Naomi Circle and the Legion Auxiliary.

She was married to Lincoln Priem December 22, 1922 in Minneapolis and they made their home in Carpenter where Mr. Priem was engaged in the implement and lumber business from 1916 until his death January 12, 1954. Two children were born to this union: Eugene, who has been associated with the lumber yard in Carpenter, and Geraldine (Mrs. Vern Tenold), also of Carpenter.

A kind and loving mother and wife, she is survived by her husband, Lloyd; sone Gene and daughter, Geraldine; four grandchildren, Gerine, Bruce and Jill Tenold and Connie Kaye Priem; her parents, all of Carpenter; three brothers, Claude Culbertson of Little Cedar, Russell of Seattle, Washington and Nuel of Chicago; also two sisters, Enid (Mrs. Milton Thompson) of Chester, Iowa and Ruth (Mrs. David McGreevy) of Mankato, Minnesota,

One brother, Oral, preceded her in death. She also leaves to mourn her many business associates, relatives and friends.

Burial was in the First Lutheran Cemetery in St. Ansgar with Reverend Hamilton in charge of the committal rites.
