Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 2, 2001 at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, rural Osage, for Alvin J. Amundson, age 89, of Osage. Rev. R. Dawson Tornes officiated and interment was in the Rock Creek Cemetery, rural Osage. Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, in charge of arrangements. Alvin died Saturday, September 29, 2001 at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

Alvin was born Sept. 9, 1912 in Mitchell County the son of Adolph and Gustava "Gustie" (Erickson) Amundson. He attended Meroa Country school and worked at home and for neighbors. Alvin was united in marriage to Charlotte Hennings on Feb. 6, 1935. They farmed southwest of Osage for 17 years. In 1952 they moved to Monette, MO, where he operated a business. Alvin returned to Osage in the fall of 1959 and drove truck for L.R. Construction retiring in 1979. After retiring, he enjoyed camping and fishing. He was a member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Marian Cockrum, a brother, Hilmar Amundson and two nieces.

Those that survive him include his wife, Charlotte of Osage; two daughters, Edna Norby and her husband, Marvin of rural Osage and Mary Lugg and her husband, Keith of Casper, WY; a sister, Alice Nack of Osage; a brother, Vernon Amundson of Osage; 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

OSAGE, IOWA - Alvin J. Amundson, 89, died Saturday (Sept. 29, 2001) at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, rural Osage, with the Rev. R. Dawson Tornes officiating. Interment will be in Rock Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and one hour before services at the church Tuesday.
