Thomas Armstrong was born of Irish parents in Canada, May 6, 1848; and died at his home in Lincoln Township, Iowa, March 21, 1917 aged 68 years, 10 months and 15 days.

He was from a family of twelve children. When 5 years old the family moved to Geresco, Mich. where he grew to manhood.

He worked in the shops in Whitewater for a time and in 1869, came to Mitchell County, Iowa, which was his home until his death.

Jan. 25, 1870, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Godfrey, in Lima, Wisconsin at the home of her uncle, Thomas Godfrey.

To this union were born two children; Grace, (Mrs. Charles Wright, of Grey's Lake, Ill.); and Frank who has always lived at home.

May 16, 1911, he had a stroke, of paralysis, from which he never fully recovered, although able to go about the neighborhood and help with the chores and light work. Just three weeks before the burial he went to Osage to see the doctor, as he had a bad foot for some time. He was confined to bed only a short time and was very patient. Everything that was done for him was all right, and he was so pleased to see his friends and neighbors.

Mrs. Wright came a few days before his death so the family were all together.

The funeral services were held at the home Friday at 10:00 a.m., March 23. Sermon by his former pastor, Rev. M.D. Mack, of Osage, from the text found in Job 14:14.

Burial at Osage. The Knight Templers were bearers and the Masons had charge of the service at the grave.

The family wish to thank all who helped in any way during the sickness and burial of their loved one. The flowers were many and beautiful.
