Mrs. Frank Annis Rites Tuesday at Osage Church

OSAGE, IOWA – Mrs. Frank W. Annis, 93, widow of a former Osage banker, died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lester Ahrens, Osage.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 P.M. at the First Congregational Church. The Reverend Norman Brooks will officiate. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery.

A pioneer Osage resident, she was born as Katherine Whitaker, near Osage November 21, 1866. Her husband was the president of the Home Trust Bank here and was affiliated with the lumber business. He died in 1934.

Surviving, besides her daughter, are three grandsons and seven great grandchildren.

Daughter of Pioneer Family Dies Here

Funeral services were held here Thursday afternoon for a lifelong resident of Mitchell County, and Prominent Osage woman, Mrs. Katherine Deering Annis, 93, who died Saturday evening. Mrs. Annis had been in failing health for several months.

Services were held at the Congregational church in Osage, with the Rev. Norman Brooks, church Pastor in charge. Arrangements were made by C. R. Champion and Sons, and burial was in the Osage Cemetery.

Katherine Deering was born on a farm east of Osage, November 21, 1866, the daughter of pioneer residents of the county, Mr. and Mrs Charles Whitaker, and was married to Frank W. Annis in 1886, and lived in Osage all of her life with the exception of a few years in her childhood, when she lived in Minneapolis.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lester Ahrens Sr., Osage, a nephew, Thomas W. Barnard of Seattle, Washington, one niece, Mrs. Katherine Barnard Warner of Minneapolis; three grandsons, and seven great-grandchildren.
