Heart Attack Proves Fatal
To Mrs. John P. Lund
Friday Night

Funeral services were conducted at the J. P. Lund home Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. J.P. Lund, who died suddenly of a heart attack last Friday night at the Baker home in Osage. The Reverend W.F. Belling was in charge of the services. Interment was in the town cemetery.

Minnie Esther Sheehan Lund, daughter of Mary Ellen and J. B. Sheehan was born in Osage, April 19, 1878. She was educated in the Osage schools and was graduated from the Osage High School with the class of 1896. She taught for a number of years in the rural schools of Mitchell County and in the Osage Schools.

On January 1, 1906 she was united in marriage with John P. Lund. To this union four children were born: John Jr., who lives in Des Moines; Jerry of Austin and Justin, at home; an only daughter Mary Ellen, died in 1936.

Her interest not only extended along literary lines, but toward flowers as well, and she was one of the founders of the St. Ansgar Garden Club of which she was an enthusiastic member since its founding. She not only spent many happy hours among her flowers, but enjoyed the association of Garden club members. From early spring until the frosts of fall the yard about home is a maze of blooming beauty.

Always possessed with keen intellectual ability, Mrs. Lund was a wide reader, and kept herself posted on the best in literature and was well versed on world affairs. She helped found the Study Club on October 11, 1920, and was its first president, and during the many years of its existence had a large part in shaping its yearly study programs. For the past several years she has been a state committee woman of the Iowa Federation of Women’s clubs, an office which she held till her untimely death last Friday.

Last Monday morning she left with some friends from Osage to attend the state convention of the Iowa Federation of Women’s clubs at Fort Dodge, apparently in the best of health. Friday evening she returned with them to Osage, arriving there at 6 o’clock. It was while she was phoning from the Baker home in Osage to Mr. Lund in St. Ansgar that she suffered a heart attack. A physician was summoned and the family notified of her condition. Mr. Lund and Justin arrived within an hour, but Mr. and Mrs. John Lund jr arrived from Des Moines at midnight about an hour after Mrs. Lund passed away.

Besides her husband and three sons she is survived by three sisters: Edna Sheehan and Ann Dixon of Long Beach, California; and Mrs. Albert Halvorson of St. Ansgar; and five brothers: Dan Sheehan, Emerson, Nebraska; Ray and Early Sheehan, California; Bernard Sheehan, Washington, and John Sheehan, St. Ansgar.

She was preceded in death by her daughter in 1936, her father in 1936, and her mother in 1931.
