LEONA (DUENOW) THORSON DIES

Mrs. Roy Thorson Funeral Held First Lutheran

Funeral services for Mrs. Roy Thorson, 80, who died August 6 at Wesley Hospital, Wadena, Minnesota, were held August 11 at First Lutheran Church here with the Reverend Don Comnick officiating.

Leona (Duenow) Thorson was born August 24, 1889 in St. Ansgar the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Duenow. She attended rural school south of Toeterville, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.

November 5, 1913, she was united in marriage to Roy Thorson. Five children were born to them: Mrs. Joe (Oveda) Boyland, Wadena, Minnesota; Kenneth of Waterloo; Russell, Bellingham, Washington; Leigh of the U.S. Army, Newport News, Virginia; and one son who died in infancy.

Mrs. Thorson is survived by her four children and their families, including 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one infant son.

Survivors also include four sisters, Mrs. Tillie Smith, Grace and Esther Duenow, of Los Angeles, California; and Alma Kearney, Maryland.

Burial was in First Lutheran Cemetery with Reverend Comnick in charge of committal services.
