Mrs. Eliza Adams Gulliver was born in Boston, Massachusetts, August 5, 1808, and died in Osage, Iowa, October 12, 1894. Some fifty-seven years of her life were spent among the scenes of her youth, almost two generations, and then set her face towards the west as so many thousands have done. In 1805, she removed to Springfield, Illinois, and in 1981 she came to Osage, Iowa. She was a woman of vigorous intellect and kept well posted on the questions of the day. It was a pleasure to converse with her. Though she attained so great an age she retained her faculties unimpaired.

She outlived her husband and children by several years. For a long time she has felt that she was living on borrowed time and she was always ready for the summons.

She had been a member of the church for seventy years and with her religion was a reality. God's grace sustained her as she neared the borderland of the other world. She was a good noble woman. She wasan earnest Christian. She was a faithful friend. She won the hearts of those who knew her intimately. She was thoughtful and considerate of others. In all her relations in life as wife, mother, friend she did her part well. In a quiet, modest, unostentatious way she reflected the religion of Christ and commended it to others.

The funeral services were held on Sabbath afternoon under the direction of Rev. W. W. Gist Oct. 25, 1894
