Ingeborg Ones was born at Highland, Stavanger, Norway on April 10, 1848. She was the oldest of twelve children and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church of her native country, where the years of her childhood and youth were spent.
On May 5, 1882, she was married to Iver Ones and they immediately immigrated to America, locating temporarily at Ossian, IA. In the spring of 1886, they came to Mitchell County and lived at several places until they bought land in Rock Township and established a home where she resided until her death.
Five children were born to this union: John and Christine, both of this community, Christian and Mrs. George Nelson, of Tolley, ND, and Mrs. L.D. Nydegger of Mason City. Her husband and children survive her. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one brother, Aslak Arno and a sister, Oline Pigberg, both of Stavanger, Norway, and two sisters, Gertrude Borreson Tow and Karen Halland, of Sandnes, Norway.
Mrs. Ones had been in ill health about twenty-five years and during the past twenty had been an almost helpless invalid. During the last three months she was confined to her bed, requiring constant card. During her many years of helplessness, the kind hands of her daughter, Christine, have cared for all her wants.
Since coming to this community Mrs. Ones has been a member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church and the Ladies' Aid society, and active in all its work as long as her health permitted. She died on March 28, 1938. During her many years of suffering she had been patient and fully resigned to the Lord's will.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. O.C. Myhre from the home at 1:00 and from the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Interment was in the Rock Creek cemetery.
