Julius W. Beyer [1899-1980]
Funeral services for Julius W. Beyer, 80, of St. Ansgar, who died at the White House Nursing Home in Osage March 27, were held March 31 at the Immanuel Lutheran church here with the Rev. Norman Betke officiating.
Julius Wilhelm Emil Beyer, son of Albert and Martha (Lemke) Beyer, was born September 20, 1899 in Mitchell County. He was baptized October 22, 1899 at St. John's Lutheran church, Rock Creek, by Rev. J. Becker. He was confirmed March 28, 1915 at St. John's, having been instructed by the Rev. Reineke.
Mr. Beyer lived all his life in this area, where he farmed for five years before moving to St. Ansgar. He worked for St. Ansgar Grain and Feed Company for 27 years before retiring. For most of the past five years he had been a resident of the White House Nursing Home in Osage.
October 28, 1933 he married Laura Beyer in Winnipeg, Canada. Six children were born to them.
He is survived by his wife, Laura of St. Ansgar; three sons, Arnold of San Bruno, Calif.; David of Corona, Calif.; and Wayne, Andrews Air Force Base, Md.; three daughters, Julia of Des Moines; JoAnn Schiemann of St. Ansgar; and Mrs. Ray (Bonnie) Grimm of Rochester, Minn.; also nine grandchildren: Angela Beyer, Tina and Michael Schiemann, Curtis Beyer, Mark, Jon and Dennis Grimm, Tammy and Steven Beyer; also one brother, Albert of St. Ansgar; four sisters, Ida Teall of Osage, Milda Stonehocker of St. Petersburg, Fla., Hadwig Bork of Grafton and Lavina Hannam of Toeterville.
Mr. Beyer was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, George, August, Joseph and William; two sisters, Ruth Beyer and Selma Kittleson.
Burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery with Rev. Betke in charge of committal services.
