Funeral services for Mrs. Amelie Hartwig, 96, who died Thursday, January 27 at her home in Osage, were held on Tuesday, February 1 at Trinity Lutheran church, Osage, with the Rev. I.G. Kitzmann officiating.

Amelie Martha Johanna Hartwig, daughter of Carl Groth and Bertha nee’ Treichel. She was received into the Kingdom of Grace by Holy Baptism on March 18, 1880 by the Rev. E. Wiegner. After instruction in the Christian doctrines she was received into communicant membership with Immanuel Lutheran church, St. Ansgar, March 26, 1893 by the Rev. E. Hantel.

Amelie was united in marriage with Ludwig Hartwig on September 21, 1902 by the Rev. W. Janzow. They engaged in farming for many years west of St. Ansgar. They were blessed with three daughters. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Hartwig and daughters moved to Osage in November 1966, also transferring their church membership to Trinity Lutheran church in Osage.

Mrs. Hartwig was preceded in death by her husband, Ludwig; her daughter Elfrieda, and four sisters.

Surviving are her daughters, Gertrude and Doris Hartwig of Osage; two sisters, Mrs. Hanna Belz of Decorah and Mrs. Frances Weidler of Cedar Falls; several nieces and nephews.

Burial was in Immanuel Lutheran cemetery here with Rev. Kitzmann in charge of committal services.
