CARPENTER, IOWA - A memorial service for Barbara Anne (Boeset) Kirchgatter, 60, of Fort Myers Beach, Florida, and formerly of Carpenter, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 26, at the Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar.

Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service.

Barb passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at her home in Fort Myers Beach. She had been courageously fighting cancer since the spring of 2008.

Barbara Anne Boeset was born on March 23, 1949, to Hugo and Maxine (Munsell) Boeset in Grafton, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton. She attended grade school in Grafton and graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1967.

She married Leland Kirchgatter on June 8, 1979. Barb and Lee managed country clubs and golf courses near Cresco, Iowa, Bemidji, Minn., and Walker, Minnesota, between the years of 1980 and 2005. Barb was currently working at a Walgreens in Fort Myers Beach.

She loved butterflies, chocolate, her Yorkies Katie and Kodie, Florida and her family.

Barb is survived by her husband, Lee; two children, Michael (DeAnn) Read of Northwood and Amy (Mark) Wallin of Alden, Minnesota; two step-children, Scott (Mona) Kirchgatter of Anthon, Iowa, and Mark Kirchgatter of Grafton; seven grandchildren, Joseph and Justin Read of Northwood, Spencer, Jacob and Ryan Wallin of Alden, and Allison and Megan Kirchgatter of Anthon; mother, Maxine (Norbert) Pint of Forest City; siblings, Hugh (Jan) Boeset of Naperville, Ill., Kathleen (Stan) Miller of Plano, Texas, and Angela Anderson (fianc�e Deron Steiner) of Montgomery, Indiana; half-sister Phyllis (Harvey) Norby of St. Ansgar; sister-in-law Shirley (James) Brock of Osage; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hugo; half-brother, Donald Boeset; brother-in-law, Donald Kirchgatter; and in-laws Emil A. and Mabel Kirchgatter.

Barb's courage and positive attitude will be treasured by her family and friends.
