OTRANTO — Louis and Emma Lane have received news of the death of their brother. Carl Lane, in San Jose, California.

Former Osage Man Dies in West; Rites Pending

OSAGE, IOWA — A former Osage resident, Carl Lane, 81, died Saturday afternoon at San Jose, California. He had been in ill health when a sudden heart attack struck him.

Born at Otranto to Hans and Mary Lane, Sept. 6, 1874. He married Julia Grevlois of South Dakota and the couple lived at Otranto, then at Osage and Mitchell, leaving Osage in 1937 for San Jose, where they lived since.

Survivors include his wife and son, Harold, both San Jose, Calif., a daughter, Mrs. Charles Peterson, Osage; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, a brother, Louis Lane, and sister, Miss Emma Lane, both of Otranto, on the home farm.

An infant daughter and a son, Clinton, preceded him in death.

Funeral rites are pending.
