GARNAVILLO- Funeral services for Harvey O. Priem, 79, of Garnavillo, who died June 7 at a hospital in Guttenberg, were held June 9 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran church in Garnavillo with the Rev. Utlaub officiating.

Harvey O. Priem, son of Fred and Isabelle Priem, was born in Otranto township November 21, 1901. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. He attended school in Otranto township.

December 29, 1930 he married Florence Breitspreacher in Austin, Minn. Two children were born to them. After his marriage Mr. Priem spent most of his life in Garnavillo where he worked as a carpenter and mechanic. He spent one year in Alaska doing construction work. For a number of years he was a member of the Garnavillo Fire Department, and also served as town constable
there from 1946-1950.

He had been in failing health the past eight years. He is survived by his wife, Florence; a son, Dean Priem, and a daughter, Betty Balk; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence Priem of Austin, Minn.; two sisters, Hazel Duenow of Mason City and Ruth Robertson of Lyle.

Mr. Priem was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mae Schroeder and a son-in-law, Leslie Decker.

Burial was in the Garnavillo city cemetery with Rev. Urlaub in charge of committal services.
