BURIED AT ROCK CREEK CEMETERY, MITCHELL COUNTY, IOWA
NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Joyce Tourtellott, 92, of Nora Springs, died Tuesday August 18 2009, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Joyce was born on November 1, 1916, in Rudd, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel and Mary (Chestnut) Reser. She attended school in Rockwell and graduated from Greene High School in 1935. On April 15, 1936, Joyce married Lynn Byron Tourtellott in Charles City. She worked at Peterson's Drapery Shop in Osage for 11 years. Her hobbies included sewing, fishing, counted cross stitch, cards, golf, and attending grandchildren's sporting activities.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 21, 2009, at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Ave., Osage, with the Rev. R. Dawson Tornes officiating. Interment will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be made to Hospice of North Iowa, 232 Second St. S.E., Mason City, IA, 50401.
Joyce is survived by her son, Jerald (Lora) Tourtellott of Osage; her daughter, Bev Fingalsen of Mason City; her daughter, Cheryl Johnson of Sun City, Arizona; her daughter, Penny (Max) Beckner of Ankeny, Iowa; her daughter-in-law, Doris Tourtellott of Streamwood, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Gene (Avis) Reser of Greene, Iowa; and a sister, Helen (Emanuel) Wolf of Adrian, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lynn Tourtellott; her son, Gordon Lynn Tourtellott; a grandson, Frank Tourtellott; a great-grandson, Barak Fingalsen; a son-in-law, Erling K. Johnson; a granddaughter-in-law, Joni Robeson; and three brothers, Earl, Robert, and Glenn "Bud" Reser.
