ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Gertrude Caroline Steinberg, 93, died Friday, July 20, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar with the Rev. Edward Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Ansgar Cemetery, St. Ansgar.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Immanual Lutheran Church.

Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, is in charge of arrangements, (641) 324-1121.

Gertrude Caroline (Baumgartner) Steinberg [1907-2001]

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, for Gertrude Caroline Steinberg, age 93, of St. Ansgar. Rev. Edward Schmidt officiating. Burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.

She died July 20, 2001 at Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar. Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, in charge of arrangements.

Gertrude was born July 22, 1907 in Strawberry Point, Iowa to Martin and Lena (Wegner) Baumgartner. She was baptized on August 11, 1907 at St. Sebald Lutheran Church, Strawberry Point. She attended rural schools in the Strawberry Point area and also attended Wartburg College in Waverly where she met Elmer Steinberg. The two were married August 5, 1928 at St. Sebald Lutheran Church, Strawberry Point. She lived in the St. Ansgar area the majority of her life. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; a daughter, Sylvia Zea; three brothers, Erwin, Walter and Norman Baumgartner.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice Guse and her husband, Hank of Albert Lea, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn Anderson of Center Point, Iowa.
