Emil Steinberg Rites Held at Immanuel Lutheran

Funeral services for Mr. Emil Frank Steinberg, 79, who died at his home here Friday, November 18, 1960, were held Monday, November 21 at 2 P.M. in Immanuel Lutheran Church at St. Ansgar. Interment was in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery east of Grafton with the Reverend Carl Wuerffel officiating.

Emil Frank Steinberg was born November 30, 1880 in Newburg township, Mitchell County, Iowa. He was the son of Frederick and Wilhelmina (nee Dueterbeck) Steinberg. He was baptized in St. John’s Lutheran Church by the Reverend John Zeilinger December 19, 1880. He confessed his faith in Confirmation April 15, 1894 by the Reverend J. Westenberger.

On June 22, 1910 he was united in marriage with Selma Wilde. The marriage was solemnized by the Reverend J. Bishop. They made their home on their farm southwest of St. Ansgar. Two children were born to this union, a daughter Mrs. Orlan Perau (Laurina) of Osage and a son Edwin Steinberg of Mitchell. He was a great lover of all sports. He enjoyed good health until two years ago when he suffered alight stroke and had failed since that.

During this illness he was able to observe their Golden Wedding Anniversary in June which he had looked forward to very much. On July 27 he suffered another light stroke. He retired from farming November 17, 1943 to their present home in St. Ansgar.

Surviving are his wife, Selma, daughter, Mrs. Orlan Perau, son, Edwin, four grandchildren, two brothers, William and Orlo of St. Ansgar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
