Clayton Kittleson Rites Held At First Lutheran
ST. ANSGAR, IOWA -- Funeral services for Clayton Kittleson, age 58, of Rock Falls, Illinois, a native of St. Ansgar who died at the Community General hospital in Sterling, Illinois Wednesday, July 29, 1959 were held at the First Lutheran Church here Saturday, August 1, 1959, with the Reverend Don. R. Hamilton officiating.
Orvin Clayton Kittleson was born September 5, 1900 in St. Ansgar, the son of George and Mathilde Kittleson. He was baptized by the Reverend Olson October, 7, 1900 and confirmed by the Reverend Waldeland July 30, 1916,
He was united in marriage to Selma M. Beyer of Rock Township in the Evangelical Lutheran Church by the Reverend J. Gemaehlich. They resided in the vicinity of St. Ansgar for several years. In 1934 they moved to Princeton, Illinois, and in 1936 to Rock Falls, Illinois where he was employed at the Northwestern Steel and Wire Company as a building guide.
He was a member of the Rock Falls Lutheran Church and the United Steel Workers of America. Mr. Kittleson was taken seriously ill March 25 and submitted to three operations. He died at the Community General Hospital in Sterling, Illinois July 29, 1959.
He is survived by his wife, Selma; his mother, Mrs. Mathilda Kittleson of St. Ansgar; two sisters, Mrs. Della Larson of St. Ansgar and Mrs. Leo (Violet) Hildreth of Austin, Minnesota, four brothers, Glenn of Lake Crystal, Minnesota, Irving of Davenport and Sherwin and Alton of St. Ansgar; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.
Prayer services were held at the Wheelock-Allen Funeral home in Rock Falls, Illinois Thursday evening with the Reverend Carl Kalkewar officiating, after which the body was brought to St. Ansgar for final services.
Burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery with Reverend Hamilton in charge of the committal services.
