ZACHARDA DIES; RITES FRIDAY

Farmer of St. Ansgar Vicinity
is Victim of Double Pneumonia

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA — Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock on Friday afternoon at the Methodist church for Frank Zacharda, farmer residing northeast of St. Ansgar, who died Wednesday at the Savre hospital in Osage of double pneumonia. The Rev. W. F. Belling will officiate, and burial will be in at St. Ansgar Cemetery.

Zacharda, who was born in New York City, had resided most of his life in the vicinity of St. Ansgar.

Surviving are his widow and six children, Frank, Jr., of St. Ansgar, Rudolph of Los Angeles, Cal., Mrs. John Wright of Charles City and Edward, George and Rosa, at home.

Pneumonia Claims Life of F. W. Zacharda

Last rites were conducted Friday afternoon at the Methodist church for Frank W. Zacharda, age 58, who died at an Osage hospital March 12, as the result of pneumonia and a heart attack. Rev. W. F. Belling was in charge of the obsequies.

Frank William Zacharda, son of Frank and Anna Zacharda, was born in New Youk City, April 18, 1883, and was baptized April 29, 1883, in the Catholic Church. In 1994 he came with his parents to Mitchell county where his father purchased a farm in St. Ansgar Township, northeast of St. Ansgar.

When he was 20 years of age his father passed away and left him the head of the family. The size of the farm was increased from 100 acres to 180 acres by the purchase of additional land adjoining it.

On December 9, 1912, he was united in marriage to Miss Marie Rence at Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. To this union seven children were born, six of who survive him. Besides his widow, he is survived by Frank Jr., who operates a farm near by; Rudolph of Los Angeles, California; Helen (Mrs. John Wright) of Charles City; Eddie, Rosie and George at home. One daughter died in infancy. Rudolph was unable to attend the funeral.

The deceased has suffered with a heart ailment for the past year or more and last August had spent two weeks in a hospital following an attack. Last week Tuesday he was taken ill with pneumonia and was rushed to an Osage hospital. On Wednesday he suffered a heart attack and died that day.

Mr. Zacharda was highly respected by his neighbors and acquaintances. He was a good neighbor and a prosperous and hard working farmer. He gave his family school and other advantages to the best of his ability. He had taken up the responsibility of the farm operation at an early age and had added many improvements, such as a new barn, a new corn crib and other additions.

Pallbearers at the funeral were his neighbors and friends; Fred Zemanek, Charles Barzel, Albert Duenow, Henry Priem, William Slaichert, and Tony Volesek. Interment was in the St. Ansgar Town Cemetery.
