Mitchell Farm Woman Dies; Rites Tuesday
Lyle, Minn. — Mrs. Ed Grove recieved the message of the death of her sister, Mrs. Robert Brown, 53, at the Iowa City hospital Saturday morning following a major operation.
Mable Edna, daughter of Frank and Emma Woodiwiss, was born in Burr Oak township, Mitchell County, Iowa, Dec. 23, 1891.
She spent all of her life in Mitchell county with the exception of a few years when her home was in Missouri. She had been in poor health all her life, being born with a heart ailment.
On December 23, 1919, she was united in marriage to Robert Brown of Lancaster, Missouri, where they lived a few years after their marriage before they returned to Mitchell County.
To this union five children were born -- a daughter and a son died in infancy.
She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Gene Gosselin, and Helen; and one son, Robert Dale, all of Little Cedar; her aged father, Frank Woodiwiss of Osage; five sisters and six brothers, namely: Mrs. Cora White, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Mrs. Elmer Newcombe, Colton, California; Mrs. Henry Donaghy and Mrs. Martin Havig, both of Osage, and Mrs. Edward Grove of Lyle, Minn.; Harold, Ralph and Frank Woodiwiss, all of Ellensburg, Wash., Edwin Woodiwiss of Wisconsin, Walter Woodiwiss, Clear Lake, and Charles Woodiwiss of Osage.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Champion funeral home at Osage. Interment was made in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Mitchell.
