Frederick A. Bruggeman

Funeral services for Frederick A. Bruggeman 73, of Toeterville, who died November 18, 1985 at a Rochester, Minnesota hospital, were held November 21 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville, with the Reverend Charles Bunk and the Reverend Lance Kittleson officiating.

Frederick A. Bruggeman was born September 19, 1912, the son of Fred H. and Ella (Geffert) Bruggeman. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville where he remained a lifelong and faithful member.

He married Marjorie Nelson March 22, 1942, and five children were born to them.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army February 20, 1941 and received six months military training at Ft. Snelling, Minnesota. After December 7, 1941, Mr. Bruggeman reentered the service and was assigned to a Military Police Battalion in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and as Chief Clerk of Headquarters and Service Battalion in northern France until the end of World War II, attaining the rant of Master Sergeant.

Following his discharge from the Army, he entered the grocery store business with his father in Toeterville, taking possession January 1, 1948. He served the Toeterville community as grocer and postmaster until retirement in 1980.

Mr. Bruggeman was an avid sports fan, baseball in particular, and was well known as a pitcher in high school. (state champions in 1930) and on community teams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Elsie, a sister, Elvira, and an infant brother.

Mr. Bruggeman is survived by his wife, Marjorie; three sons, Fredric and wife Glory, David and wife, Vickie, and Mark; two daughters, Ruth Ann and Mary Muller and her husband, John; one sister, Mrs. Galen (Darlene) Kittleson; six grandchildren, Scott and Greg, Tammy and Stacy and Laurie and Jay; also nieces and nephews.

Burial was in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Toeterville.
